Jacksonville Slam News Release

The Jacksonville Jam (13-4) came out very focussed on the road on Wednesday night in South Florida to defeat the Palm Beach Imperials (5-10) on their homecourt for the 4TH time this season.

The Jam established themselves early in the game as Myron Anthony (starting his first game of the season at center for the Jam) scored 14 points and pulled down 7 rebounds in the first half. Jacksonville led 28-25 at the end of the first quarter and controlled the entire first half to go in up at half- time 53-47.

Coming out the second half Jacksonville exploded and led by as many as 25 points at one point and was up by 20 heading into the fourth quarter. Jerry Williams and Trey Moore led the way for the Jam in the third stanza with 14 and 10 points respectively.

In the fourth period, Jacksonville held off a mad run of 3 pointers by Palm Beach, who cut the Jacksonville lead to just 4 points with a minute in a half to play. But a steal by Moore and a basket by DeRon Rutledge put the Jam back up by 6, and the Jam held on for the victory by a final margin of 8 points 122-114.

"When you come in and beat someone on their homecourt four times during a season in professional basketball, especially a good team like Palm Beach, well, that is just an amazing accomplishment! Stated Jam head coach, Steve Tucker.

The Jam were led in scoring by Williams, who had 29 points. Rutledge had 24 points and 9 rebounds. Moore put up a triple double for the Jam with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assist. Anthony Lumpkin contributed 14 points off the bench for the Jam and Anthony followed up with 14. New Jam point guard, Jeremy File started his first game for the Jam and had 10 points and 6 assist on the night. Bobby St. Preaux led Palm Beach with 27 points.

Jacksonville returns home Friday night to host the Miami Tropics. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05pm. GO JAM!!!
