
RoughRiders' Boehm Commits to Massachusetts

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward David Boehm has committed to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, the RoughRiders announced today. Boehm is set to begin his college career in the fall of 2008.
"This is obviously great news for David," said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. "He has worked very hard since he arrived in Cedar Rapids and now will have the chance to continue to improve as a player here next season."
Boehm, 17, is in his first season with the Riders. The Naples, Florida, native has scored seven goals and totaling 16 points in 18 games this year.
The 5' 10", 160-pound Boehm joined the Riders this season after playing for the Boston Jr. Bruins of the Empire Junior (B) Hockey League last year.
Massachusetts has gotten off to a strong start this season, going 7-4-2 overall and 4-3-1 in Hockey East play.
Boehm joins Richard Bachman (Colorado College), Robin Bergman (Notre Dame), Jacob Cepis (Bowling Green), Doug Jones (Princeton), Matt Tommassoni (Miami of Ohio), Kevin Wehrs (Minnesota), Scott Wietecha (Ferris State) and Tommy Wingels (Miami of Ohio) as the ninth member of the 2006-07 RoughRiders to make a college commitment.
Boehm and the RoughRiders (12-6-0, 24 points) are in second place in the United States Hockey League's East Division, two points behind the division-leading Waterloo Black Hawks. The Riders play a home-and-home series against the Lincoln Stars this weekend. The Riders will visit Lincoln tomorrow night before returning home to host the Stars Saturday evening at 7:05.
Tickets for all remaining RoughRider regular season home games- including this Saturday's- are currently on sale. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
