
Red Bulls to Host Ecuador-Peru Match September 6

SECAUCUS, NJ (Tuesday, August 22, 2006) - Red Bull New York announced today that it will be hosting an international match between Ecuador and Peru at Giants Stadium on September 6. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET
Tickets will go on sale to the general public Wednesday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. ET and can be purchased by calling 1.877.RBSOCCER or online at www.nyredbulls.com and www.ticketmaster.com.
For the first time in its history, Ecuador qualified for the second round in the recent 2006 World Cup in Germany, falling to England, 1-0. Prior to that, the Ecuadorians defeated Poland, 2-0, and Costa Rica, 3-0, before losing to the host nation in the final game of the group stage. The South American side, which finished third in the CONMEBOL region during 2006 World Cup qualifying behind Brazil and Argentina, was led by Carlos Tenorio, who scored two goals in the tournament, and young star Antonio Valencia.
Peru, ranked 41st in the most recent FIFA World Rankings, finished ninth in the CONMEBOL region during 2006 World Cup qualifying. Among their most notable players are forward Jefferson Farfán, who was the CONMEBOL qualifiers' second top scorer after he recorded seven goals, and striker Claudio Pizarro ,who scored 11 goals for the 2005-2006 German Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich.
