"Tito" Destin named general manager of Matrix

June 30, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) Montreal Royal

Montreal, Canada. Ocelito "Tito" Destin has been named General Manager of the ABA Montreal Matrix professional basketball team. Introduced to the game of basketball at the age of 15 as a member of the IMCO Running Rebels, he also played for the elite Page-Concordia High School team under the coaching of Dennis Gagnon before moving onto the Dawson College Blues.

After many years as a play, Tito added coaching to his basketball experience and was head coach of Page-Concordia men's AAA basketball team; assistant coach for the Montmorency Men's AA college team and became the youngest and the first African-American head coach in the AAA league as coach for the Edouard Montpetit College men's team.

After leaving coaching, Tito has developed into organizing basketball related events, leagues and tournaments including Battle of the Stars which he created in 2002. This event features local basketball stars from the past (ex-NCAA players) versus up-and-coming basketball stars. Now in its third year, the event will be transformed into a basketball weekend festival.

"I live, work and breath basketball," said Destin. "And I am looking forward to the challenge of making the Montreal Matrix one of the best organizations in the ABA."
