
Spirit Host Saginaw Travel Hockey's Winchester Awards

The Saginaw Spirit hosted the 24th annual Winchester Awards Thursday night. The awards scholarship, attitude and hockey ability in Saginaw travel hockey players, in the memory of former travel hockey player Scott Winchester, who died in a car accident in 1983. There were twelve nominees:

Greyson Curry- Tommy Munoz- and Zachary Seitz
From Pee Wee Travel
Michael Albosta- Sam Bloomberg- and Josh Koepplinger
From Bantam Travel
Christian Bialek- Bostyn Drapp- and Macy Schultz.
From Midget Travel
Justin Henne- Robert Schultz- and Bryan Westendorf.
This year's recipient was Macy Schultz, the first girl to win the award in its 24 year history. The award's coordinator, Bob Kushon and youth hockey coach Al Premo presented the awards in Scott's memory at a period break during the Spirit game. The Saginaw Spirit Charitable Foundation donated $200 in Macy Schultz's name to the Greater Saginaw Amateur Hockey Association.
