'Fish sweep Patriots, 6-3

September 22, 2005 - Bridgeport , Conn. - The Bridgeport Bluefish swept the Somerset Patriots in the three game series on Thursday evening, 6-3, in front of 3,934 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

The Bluefish scored three in the bottom of the second inning as Willis Otanez led off with a single to left, advanced on a walk by Gary Burnham, and scored as Jason Torres doubled to right center. Burnham scored on a sacrifice fly by Will Pennyfeather, and Torres scored as Angel Espada singled.

Bridgeport doubled their score in the bottom of the sixth as the bottom third of the order all scored aided by three hits to take a 6-0 lead. The offense was highlighted by a two run double by Ron Fenwick.

Bluefish starter, Byron Batson, went eight innings allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking one. Somerset starter, Shane Heams, was removed from the game with back pain in the midst of the second inning.

The Bluefish travel to Atlantic City to wrap up the 2005 season tomorrow. The Bluefish would like to thank all their fans and sponsors for their support during the 2005 season.
