Washington Mystics News Release

Washington, D.C. - Washington Mystics General Manager Linda Hargrove announced today that Head Coach Richie Adubato will return to the Mystics for the 2006 season. Per company policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are thrilled that Richie will return as the Mystics' Head Coach. He is a proven winner and a great teacher," said Hargrove. "I look for our young players to continue to develop under his leadership and I feel that great things are in store for our franchise."

Adubato took over the Mystics coaching reigns one week prior to the opening of training camp. Washington finished the season with a record of 16-18. Prior to joining the Mystics, Adubato spent five seasons with the New York Liberty where he compiled a 100-79 record. He led New York to three Eastern Conference Championships in 1999, 2001, and 2003 and four WNBA Finals. He currently is the third winningest coach in WNBA history with 116 wins.

"I am happy to get another opportunity to coach the Mystics," said Adubato. "I think we layed the foundation for a new system and with the talented players on our team, it is going to be great."

Adubato accumulated 19 years of experience coaching in the NBA. He held head coaching stints with the Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks and Orlando Magic, leading his teams to the NBA Playoffs twice. He was an assistant coach with the New York Knicks under Hall of Famer Hubie Brown for four seasons. Adubato was also an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers and served as a scout for the Atlanta Hawks.

Season tickets for the 2006 season are currently available and can be purchased by calling (202) 266-2277 or visiting the Mystics web site at www.washingtonmystics.com.
