Blast announces November 11 home opener

Baltimore, MD - The Baltimore Blast will play their 2005-06 home opener on Friday, November 11 at 1st Mariner Arena against the expansion California Cougars. The complete 2005-06 MISL schedule will be released in August. Kick off is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.

In addition to the opening night festivities, November 11th is also the first of two post-game Christian Youth Night concerts at 1st Mariner Arena this season. Kutless, KJ-52, Disciple and Krystal Meyers will perform immediately following the Blast vs. Cougars game. The Blast game ticket includes the cost of admission to the concert.

The 2005-06 season marks the first season for the expansion California Cougars, who will play at a brand-new arena that is being built in Stockton, CA. The Cougars, coached by Troy Dayak, drafted former Blast goalkeeper Brian Rowland in the MISL Expansion Draft that took place in June. Dayak, a two-time MLS Champion with the San Joe Earthquakes, was a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Soccer team and played indoor soccer for Cleveland's NPSL franchise. After playing the Blast, the Cougars will remain on the East Coast and will play the Philadelphia KiXX the following night (November 12) at the Wachovia Spectrum.

Keeping with the Baltimore Blast tradition of affordable family entertainment, fans will be treated to various promotional items throughout the season including replica jersey T-shirts, soccer balls and bobble heads. The team will host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout night and the two post-game Christian concerts. In addition, the Blast will induct additional players into the Blast Hall of Fame.

Blast season tickets and mini-plans will be on sale in August through the Blast office. Single-game tickets will go on sale in September and will be available at the 1st Mariner Arena Box Office and at all TicketMaster outlets including TicketMaster phonecharge at 410-547-SEAT. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com.

The Blast has four weeks remaining in the team's annual summer soccer camp program. The team will host nine more sessions of camp in the next month. By the end of August, more than 1,400 youth soccer players will have attended Blast Summer Soccer Camp this summer. The team is set to begin training camp in October.
