
Orioles' Lopez to rehab in Bowie

Bowie, MD - The Baltimore Orioles announced today that C Javy Lopez will begin a rehabilitation assignment with Class AA Bowie tonight when the Baysox take on the Norwich Navigators at 7:05 p.m. at Prince George's Stadium.
Lopez, 34, broke his right hand on May 24 when he was struck by a foul tip off the bat of Seattle's Bret Boone. He was placed on the disabled list the following day.
Lopez had been hitting .278 with 7 home runs and 22 RBI through 42 games before sustaining the injury. He is expected to receive 20 to 25 at-bats with the Baysox before rejoining the Orioles.
Lopez joins a list of three other Orioles have had rehab stints with Bowie this season - OF Luis Matos, RHP Jason Grimsley, and LHP Erik Bedard.

The Baysox seven game homestand will continue with games Friday through Sunday, as the Baysox play host to the Binghamton Mets in a three-game series. All four remaining games in the homestand will feature post-game fireworks.
