Washington, PA – The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, announced a multi-team trade Tuesday. Pitcher Jared Howton and outfielder, Brandon Cornell were traded to Florence in return for rights to J D Foust, according to officials.

Foust was named to the Frontier League's East Division all-star team in 2004. He batted .302 with four home runs and 15 stolen bases in 48 games for Florence. His contract was then purchased by the Chicago White Sox on July 30th. Foust then went on to hit .284 in 28 games for Bristol (TN) of the Appalachian League.

Jared Howton, who didn't play for the Wild Things in 2004, was traded to Florence, who then traded him to the Richmond Roosters. Howton spent two seasons with the Wild Things and was the Frontier League's Pitcher of the Year in 2002 when he went 11-3 with a league-best 1.89 ERA. In the fall of 2003 Howton underwent shoulder surgery and did not play in 2004.

Cornell batted .229 for the Wild Things last year in 47 games. He had a team-high five triples.

The Wild Things will host an open house at Falconi Field on April 23rd when individual game tickets, including tickets to the season opener, will go on sale. The team opens the season at home against the Ohio Valley Red Coats on May 25.
