RICHMOND, VA - (Friday, February 20, 2004) - The Richmond Kickers have agreed to loan the playing rights of the 2003 A-League Rookie of the Year, David Testo, to Major League Soccer (MLS) for the upcoming competitive season. MLS will have the opportunity to purchase his playing rights for an undisclosed value at the end of the season. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Major League Soccer handles all player contracts on a league-wide basis. The acquisition of David was made on behalf of the Columbus Crew who used one of their three discovery options for the 2004 season.

Testo earned A-League Rookie of the Year honors after his first year with the Richmond Kickers, scoring fourteen points on six goals and two assists. David played a total of 28 games for 1,989 minutes with the Kickers. As a member of the under-23 U.S. Men's National Team for the past two years, Testo led the U-23s in scoring in 2003 with eight points (three goals, two assists). His two goals and one assist against St. Kitts and Nevis during the second round of CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying earned him Chevrolet Man of the Match honors.

"David is a great talent and will have a successful career in professional soccer, whether it be in the MLS, overseas or in the A-League," comments Richmond Kickers General Manager Paul Sterbenz. "He has represented our club well, and we wish him all the best in the future."
