Lexington, Ky. - The Horsemen Indoor Football team is proud to announce the promotion of Mike Zuckerman from Defensive Coordinator to Head Coach for the 2006 season.

Zuckerman began his coaching career in 1989 as a volunteer assistan at Henry Clay, coaching under legendary coach, Jake Bell. He returned as a volunteer assistant in 1994 for current Henry Clay coach Sam Simpson, where he steadily moved up the coaching ladder, coaching the wide receivers and running backs in 1995 and 1996, the secondary and running backs coach from 1997 - 2000, and the Defensive Coordinator from 2000 to 2003. With Zuckerman on staff, Henry Clay finished as 1995 state runner - up in 4A, and was named "Top 50 Teams in the Nation" in 1999.

Zuckerman was added the Lafayette Generals coaching staff in 2005 under current Horsemen special teams coordinator and defensive line coach, Mike Harmon. Under Harmon, Zuckerman was the Co - Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach.

"With Coach Sphire's departure, we didn't have to look very far for a great coach to lead us in 2006. Mike Zuckerman was a no brainer when it came time to find someone. He is a person in our organization that everyone respects, and will be very successful as a Head Coach," commented Horsemen owners Lennie and Vicki House.

Coach Zuckerman's first order of business was to solidify his coaching staff, in which he named wide receivers coach, Troy Hobbs, offensive coordinator, and moved Donny Walker to quarterbacks coach.

In other Horsemen news, Coach Zuckerman, along with the other coaches will be looking to finalize the 2006 addition of the Horsemen roster this Saturday January 28th at 2pm in Heritage Hall.
