Game Keys - Brett Hayes drove in a pair of runs as the visiting Zephyrs defeated Nashville 7-5 in front of 6,951 on Opening Night at Greer Stadium. The Z's scored three unearned runs in the eighth inning to break the tie and take the lead. Hayes drilled a hard shot towards third base and Mat Gamel made a diving grab, jumped to his feet and misfired the throw to first base. The error led to three unearned runs for reliever Wes Littleton who suffered the loss. Nate Field retired one hitter in the seventh and earned the win for New Orleans Michael Ryan led the way for the Z's going three for three with a walk. The Z's starter Ryan Tucker worked three innings and gave way to the bullpen, New Orleans used six pitchers to get the win.
Game Notes: The Z's improved to 9-8 all-time on opening day and won their third consecutive against Nashville to open the season. The Z's debut their new jerseys on Thursday wearing the blue jersey with white NOLA across the chest. Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Sounds meet at 7PM on Friday night in Nashville. New Orleans will start RH Burke Badenhop against RH Mike Burns. RADIO: AM 690 WIST.
