EDMONTON, Alberta -- Terrmel Sledge drove in four runs to help the Edmonton Trappers crush the New Orleans Zephyrs, 8-2 on Friday Night in Edmonton.

Sledge, who finished with two hits to extend his hitting streak to 15 games, hit an RBI single in the first inning to open the scoring and launched a three-run homer over the right field wall to cap a six-run second frame. Randy Knorr tripled home a pair of runs in the second inning and Luis Figueroa, who went 3-for-4, followed with an RBI single to give Edmonton a 4-0 lead.

Hansel Izquierdo (1-0) yielded two runs and seven hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings to earn the win for the Trappers, who improved to 18-10 when scoring first. Dave Matranga had a pair of hits, including an RBI double in the third inning for New Orleans. Rodrigo Rosario (5-5) surrendered eight runs and nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings to suffer the loss for the Zephyrs, who fell to 4-4 through eight games of their current road trip.

The Zephyrs will begin a four game home stand on Saturday May 31st at 7:05 p.m. as the Z's face the Iowa Cubs, the Class AAA Pacific Coast League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The first 2,500 fans with paid admission receive a Seat Cushion courtesy of Tenet Choices and a 2 Fast 2 Furious movie poster. Left hander Ron Villone (2-1, 2.55) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Left hander Steve Smyth (2-3, 5.69) for the Cubs.
