Zorros Center Back Ramon Martin Del Campo Named to USL Team of the Week
July 31, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Fresno FC News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Defender Ramon Martin Del Campo was announced as a USL Team of the Week selection after two impressive performances against OKC Energy FC and Tulsa Roughnecks last week.
Del Campo, 25, won 16 of 20 duels and made 21 clearances as he helped anchor the back line in road draws at Oklahoma City and Tulsa. His performances helped Fresno FC (7W-7L-9D, 30 points) maintain an unbeaten record in July (2-0-2) as it continues to make a push for playoffs.
It's the second Team of the Week honor for Del Campo, who earned the nod in Week 4, and fourth of his short USL career after earning it twice last season with Ottawa Fury FC. Also, it is the ninth time Fresno has had a player on the USL Team of the Week in the club's inaugural season. Midfielder Juan Pablo Caffa most recently got the selection in Week 18 - his third of the season.
Midfielder Pedro Ribeiro was an honorable mention for the USL Team of the Week, after leading the Foxes with 16 tackles and five interceptions in Week 20.
Fresno FC sits in ninth place in the 17-team USL Western Conference, one point behind San Antonio FC (8W-5L-7D, 31 pts) who jumped into the final playoff spot with a 2-1 win over OKC Energy FC on Saturday.
Fans can catch Fresno FC in action on Saturday, Aug 4, when the Foxes head to Sacramento for the third, and final, regular-season meeting against rival Sacramento Republic FC. The Highway 99 Derby is currently split, with both teams taking a victory. The Foxes won the last time, 2-0 on June 30 at Chukchansi Park. Kickoff for Saturday's matchup is at 8 p.m. and can be viewed on CW 59 and ESPN Plus.
The Foxes next home match is Saturday, Aug. 18 against Saint Louis FC at Chukchansi Park. Tickets are available at Tickets.FresnoFC.com or the stadium box office. Mini plans, group options and sponsorship opportunities are also available for the remainder of the 2018 USL Regular Season. For more information, call 559-320-2525.
