Metairie, LA. â Jon Nunnally was four for five including his 25th home run of the season to lead the Memphis Redbirds (64-79) to a 9 to 3 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs (71-73) on Monday Afternoon at Zephyr Field.
New Orleans took a 1 to 0 lead in the first as Tripp Cromer hit his fourth home run of the season. The Zephyrs increased the lead to 3 to 0 with two runs in the second. One of those runs scored on a double from John Buck. Memphis would take the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning off Zephyrs starter D.J. Houlton. The big blow of the inning was a two run double by Jason Bowers. Nunnally would homer in the seventh off Zephyrs reliever Nathan Bland. Colin Porter had two hits for the Zephyrs in the losing effort.
Jeremy Cummings (7-3) picked up the win for the Redbirds pitching 6 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits. Houlton (3-4) suffered the loss pitching four innings allowing five runs on seven hits.
After the game, Kirk Bullinger, Kirk Saarloos and Porter were added to the Astros roster. The Zephyrs finished the season at 71-73.
