Yuma Pounds Flyers
June 28, 2008 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
The Yuma Scorpions (17-15) jumped on the Flyers (21-8) early and often Saturday night in a 13-4 blowout at Desert Sun Stadium.
Andre Simpson, who came into the game with seven wins in seven starts, gave up 10 runs in his first loss of the season. The Flyers defense did not help out conceding three errors, which led to five unearned runs off Simpson and six for the game.
Patrick Breen provided a bright spot for the Flyers with his league-leading 14th homerun of the season.
Monte Mansfield pitched admirably in relief for Orange County by tossing four innings to save the rest of the bullpen.
A.J Valentine paced Yuma's potent attack with three hits, including his 8th homerun.
Bob Cramer will try and salvage the series for the Flyers Sunday night at 7 p.m.
