Lancaster JetHawks News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Keegan Yuhl tossed a career-high seven innings for the JetHawks, who defeated the San Jose Giants on the road for the first time this season with a 3-1 win on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium.

Over his seven scoreless innings of work, Yuhl (4-0) limited the Giants (58-60) to just three hits, striking out four and walking three.

James Ramsay drove in two of the three runs for the JetHawks (60-58). Mott Hyde went 0-for-3 at the plate, ending his hitting streak at 15 games.

After both teams failed to score in the first two innings, Marc Wik hit a two-out double in the top of the third inning and scored on a double by Ramsay. Alex Bregman followed with a single to drive Ramsay home from second, giving Lancaster a 2-0 lead against Giants starter Jose Reyes (3-5).

Reyes took the loss for San Jose, despite allowing just two runs on six hits through six innings.

The JetHawks added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Sean McMullen hit a leadoff single off reliever Ian Gardeck, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and took third on an infield single by Wik. Ramsay then plated McMullen with a sacrifice fly to left field.

In the bottom of the ninth, Lancaster reliever Andrew Walter issued a leadoff walk to Skyler Stromsmoe, who advanced to second on an Aramis Garcia single. Angel Villalona followed with a single to right field to score Stromsmoe, but Ramsay threw out Garcia attempting to reach third on the play. Daniel Carbonell popped out to catcher Jamie Ritchie for the inning's second out before Jordan Mills entered and got Tyler Horan to fly out to left, securing the victory for the JetHawks.

First pitch for the rubber game of the series is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Municipal Stadium. David Paulino (0-1, 9.35) will start for the JetHawks, and Martin Agosta (4-7, 4.34) will take the mound for San Jose.
