Youngstown Phantoms Acquired Multiple Players Through the 2020 USHL Dispersal Draft

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- On Monday, the Youngstown Phantoms acquired multiple players through the 2020 USHL Dispersal Draft. The Phantoms made four selections, defenseman Bennett Zmolek and Grant Hindman, forward Nate Hanley, and goaltender Andrew Pichora. All four players were selected from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.

Bennett Zmolek, 18, of Rocherter, MN, played 21 games for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders during the 2018-2019 season before playing the entire 2019-2020 season. He is committed to Minnesota State University.

Grant Hindman, 18, of Oakland, MI, was drafted by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the 2020 USHL draft. Last season Grant played for the Janesville Jets (NAHL).

Nate Hanley, 18, of Rocky Point, NY, played 31 games for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders during the 2018-2019 season before playing the entire 2019-2020 season. He is committed to the University of Connecticut.

Andrew Pichora, 17, or Bethel Park, PA split the season last year between Pittsburgh Penguins Elite U16 team and the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. He is committed to the University of Minnesota.

GM and Head Coach Brad Patterson stats: "First off we are disappointed to not be competing against Madison and Cedar Rapids this season. They are both valued members to the USHL and we look forward to hitting the ice with them again in the near future. In the meantime, we are excited to have added some top notch talent and character to our organization this season. These additions definitely raise our internal competition level entering into the season and will have an impact for us moving forward. We look forward to seeing them in Youngstown soon."

The United States Hockey League (USHL) completed a dispersal draft Monday for players that were on the rosters and affiliate lists of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Madison Capitols for the 2019-20 season. All players that have junior hockey eligibility for the upcoming 2020-21 season were eligible to be selected by USHL Member Clubs.
