Casper Ghosts News Release
Eric Young Jr. made sure the Rockies would have some early offense last night in Idaho Falls. Young pounded a Chris Nicoll fastball over the left field fence with Corey Wimberly aboard to open the Rockies 5-4 win. The win snapped Casper's four game losing streak and got them a game to within of Orem for second place in the South. The victory also gave the Rockies a one game cushion for the wildcard spot as the Orem Owlz lost to Ogden on Wednesday night.
Young would gather two of the Rockies eight hits in the win. Bret Berglund also drove in two runs later in the first inning. The Chukars made it interesting by scoring three runs in the 7th to cut a 5-1 Rockies lead to 5-4. Andrew Johnston closed the game for Casper, working the 8th and 9th for his league-best 15th save.
Starter Anuery Rodriguez went 5.1 innings and allowed just one run and three hits to pick up his 3rd win of the year. Idaho Falls hosts Casper tonight to continue the series. Xavier Cedeno takes the mound for the Rockies versus Bennett Cromer.
