SACRAMENTO, Calif. (January 30, 2015) - DeYor Enterprises, LLC, an entity controlled by the York Family, owners of the San Francisco 49ers (NFL), has entered into a partnership to join Sacramento Republic FC's bid to receive MLS expansion rights.

"I've had tremendous respect for the York family and their successes over the years," said Sacramento Republic FC Lead Investor Kevin Nagle. "I'm just absolutely thrilled that we will have an opportunity to collaborate together on our efforts here in Sacramento. The York Family has a long history running championship organizations that, like Republic FC, embody a strong commitment to its fans. They will bring a wealth of experience and resources as we embark on building a world-class MLS club and soccer specific stadium in the Sacramento Railyards."

The relationship between the York Family and Sacramento Republic FC was established through an introduction made by Mayor Kevin Johnson who is currently leading the MLS expansion efforts on behalf of the city of Sacramento.

"Today, it feels like Sacramento just won the Super Bowl," said city of Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. "To have Jed York of the San Francisco 49ers making this type of commitment to Sacramento and our region, it shows that we have arrived. With Sacramento Republic FC partnering with the 49ers, one of the premiere sports franchises in the world, we can't be better positioned in our efforts to secure an MLS team, develop the Railyards, and most importantly create jobs and economic growth for our region."

MLS has communicated its goal to expand to at least 24 clubs by 2020, with additional details on the expansion process to be released before the end of June 2015. In September 2014, MLS Deputy Commissioner Mark Abbott visited Sacramento to meet with city officials and Republic FC investors, as well as to tour potential stadium sites. Additional meetings with the league have taken place since then, including presentations to the MLS expansion committee on November 19, 2014.

"My family and I are very proud to be a part of the great team Sacramento Republic FC has constructed to support its effort to bring Major League Soccer to the region," said San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York. "We thank Mayor Kevin Johnson for introducing us to Kevin Nagle, Warren Smith and their team who have been working so hard to bring to life their vision for a better Sacramento. With a passionate fan base, a new stadium on the horizon and a championship culture already established, Sacramento is primed to welcome a MLS franchise."

Having the York family work together with Republic FC is one of several recent steps that bolsters the USL PRO franchise's bid for MLS rights. Republic FC also recently announced that the Sacramento Kings (NBA), led by chairman and owner Vivek Ranadive, are minority investors in the club at the MLS-level. In addition, the club has entered into a letter of intent with Downtown Railyard Venture, LLC to build a soccer specific stadium in the Sacramento Railyards, contingent on MLS expansion.
