(York, PA. - May 6, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (7-3) suffered a 5-3 setback against the York Revolution (3-7) on Sunday at Sovereign Bank Stadium to end Bridgeport's five-game winning streak.

The Revolution started the scoring in the bottom of the first. After Stephen Douglas and Liu Rodriguez started off the frame with singles to left, Chris Nowak stepped up to the plate with one out. Nowak earned a base hit to left to score Douglas. With two outs, James Shanks singled to push Rodriguez to the plate to increase the margin to two runs.

Bridgeport responded in the third as Brock Peterson launched a solo shot to left. His first homer of the season closed the deficit to one.

York countered Bridgeport's attack when Salvador Paniagua drove a pitch over the wall in leftcenter. His second homer of the series increased the lead to 3-1.

The Revolution added two more runs with the bases loaded in the seventh and one out. Ramon Castro pulled a single to left field to bring home the final two runs of the evening for the Revolution.

In the ninth, Bridgeport rallied to score two runs against York closer R.J. Rodriguez; but with the bases loaded and two outs, Peterson popped out to second to end the contest.

Bluefish hurler, Gilbert De La Vara (0-1) suffered the loss as he completed four-and-two-thirds innings and surrendered three runs on ten hits and an intentional walk. The southpaw struck out three. Jonah Bayliss delivered two-and-a-third innings out of the bullpen while York scored twice, earned three hits and walked once against the righthanded reliever. Rommie Lewis followed Bayliss. The second reliever tossed a scoreless frame and fanned the final batter in his outing.

Revolution starter, Corey Thurman, worked four innings and allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out one; but the starter did not factor in the decision. James Houser (1-0) struck out two and gave up two hits in an-inning-and-a-third of relief to earn the victory for York. Stephen Penney, Dumas Garcia, Adam Thomas and Rodriguez combined to throw five innings of two run, six hit, four walk and four strikeout baseball.
