Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY-The loud, exciting, non-stop action that sports fans have been waiting for is just around the corner. Joining the Yard Dawgz in their home opener is the world-renowned Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band, sponsored by The Oklahoman. The Tiger Marching Band will add to the already fun, entertaining atmosphere that arena football embodies.
The Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band has 200 talented members and has performed across the country, as well as in Africa and Japan. The band has also made five Superbowl appearances and was featured in the movie "Drumline." With such an over-whelming list of accomplishments, it's no wonder that the Grambling State University Marching Band is considered the "Best Band in the Land."
Members of the band undergo a preseason "boot camp" that prepares them for the exhilarating performances that audiences have come to expect. Incorporating high-stepping and dance moves to music, the band will entertain Yard Dawgz fans with the National Anthem, a half-time routine, and a post-game performance.
"We are very excited to once again welcome back the Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band. The GSU Tiger Marching Band is definitely a crowd favorite and we are happy to welcome them back to Oklahoma City for the fourth consecutive year," commented General Manager Christie Cook.
The Yard Dawgz will host the Quad City Steamwheelers in their home opener on April 21st, at 7:05 p.m. on Compassionate Care Hospice Field at the Ford Center.
