Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz take on the Cleveland Gladiators, Saturday, April 17, at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 7:05 pm CST. Saturday's contest marks the first time these two teams have met.
The Yard Dawgz are coming off of a bye week after a season opener which saw injuries to several key players. The Dawgz defense comes into this week's match up ranked 1st in scoring defense and 2nd in total defense. The defensive highlight in the Dawgz last outing was a momentum changing 54 yard interception return for a touchdown by defensive back David Hyland.
"After a much needed bye week, we are excited to be back on the field and playing in front of our hometown fans," said Head Coach Sparky McEwen. "The Cleveland Gladiators are not your typical 0-2 team; they could easily be 2-0 versus two of the top teams in the AFL with a bounce here and there."
The Gladiators bring to Oklahoma City a number one ranking in total pass offense and a number four ranking in total offense with an average of 338 yards per game. The two Gladiator losses of the 2010 season are by a combined total of only 8 points.
Saturday, April 17th is Tinker Air Force Base & Military Appreciation Night. Receive 1/2 off any regularly priced ticket with a valid Military I.D. The Yard Dawgz Block Party on Reno begins two hours prior to kickoff at every home game this season. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CST.
