OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz began their 2005 season last Thursday with their first practice at the University of Central Oklahoma football facility. This marks the second training camp in Yard Dawgz history and the first under new head coach Jeff Jarnigan. The Yard Dawgz have a number of players in camp with ties to the state of Oklahoma.
Among those in camp are returning players from the 2004 Yard Dawgz roster: Chris Archie, Keonta Golson, Al Hunt, Gana Joseph, Chuck Little, Kris Peters, Craig Strickland, and Chris Toney.
"The guys worked very hard so far," said Jarnigan. "But we have a long way to go if we plan to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves this season."
The Yard Dawgz will continue their training camp this week with practices at the Cox Convention Center. Practices are from 5:45 p.m. to around 8:45 p.m. and are open to the media.
All of the players in camp this season are competing for a spot on the final 21-man roster for the first game on April 1st. The Yard Dawgz coaching staff must cut down to the final 21-man roster before 2:00 pm on March 28th.
YARD DAWGZ NOTES: The Yard Dawgz will begin their 2005 regular season with two consecutive road games, first on April 1st when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to take on the Pioneers, then they will travel to Little Rock, Arkansas on April 9th to take on the Arkansas Twisters...The Yard Dawgz will have their 2005 home opener on April 16th when they take on the Central Valley Coyotes...The game is set for 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available by calling the Yard Dawgz offices at 405.228.DAWG (3294).
