Yard Dawgz Make Changes to Coaching Staff

OKLAHOMA CITY - Newly assigned Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz Head Coach Sparky McEwen has officially announced his assistants. Joining Head Coach Sparky McEwen on the sideline for the remainder of the 2008 season will be Defensive Coordinator Stan Davis and Director of Pro Player Personnel / Offensive Assistant Robert Taylor.

In 2007, Davis was the Defensive Backs Coach for NFL Europe's Rhein Fire. Davis was with the AFL's Grand Rapids Rampage as the Defensive Coordinator in 2005 and 2006. In this span the franchise set records in single season interceptions (20), single season sacks (19), single season takeaways (33), most interception in one game (5), forced fumbles (14), and most interception return yards.

Prior to his stint at Grand Rapids, Davis was the Defensive Coordinator for the AFL's Las Vegas Gladiators (2003-2005) leading a defense that finished with the number one ranked total defense (248.1 yards) and pass defense (229.2). His defense also set Gladiators records with the fewest points allowed in a game (13) and fewest points allowed in a half (0).

Davis was the Wide Receiver/Defensive Backs Coach for the AFL's Chicago Rush from 2001-2003. While in Chicago, Davis' secondary was led by Dameon Porter, league leader in interceptions. In 2001, his secondary as a whole led the league in interceptions (18) and finished second (22) in the league in 2002. Since joining the Arena Football League, Davis' secondary has consistently finished in the top 5 in interceptions each season.

Before joining the AFL, Davis was the Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach at Compton Community College in California (2000) and helped lead the team to its first .500 season since 1981. Davis was the Assistant Defensive Backs coach at Los Angeles Valley City College (1998) and the Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach at Los Angeles Harbor City College (1995-1996).

Davis also interned with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals in 2005 and 2006 as the Defensive Assistant under Defensive Coordinator Chuck Bresnahan and Linebacker Coach Ricky Hunley. His extensive coaching career began in 1994 at his alma mater, Inglewood (CA) High School, where he worked with the defensive secondary.

Robert Taylor joins the coaching staff as the Director of Pro Player Personnel and Offensive Assistant. Taylor comes to the Yard Dawgz after a stint as the Assistant Football Coach/Receivers Coach for the AFL's Grand Rapids Rampage (2006-2007) under Head Coach Sparky McEwen.

Currently, Taylor is the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Neosho Community College in Chanute, KS. He has a long coaching history including time spent with Texas A & M Corpus Christi, Grand Valley State University, Paris Junior College, Cowley County Community College, and the Kansas City Elite basketball program, as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. Taylor was also the Assistant Football Coach at his alma mater, Grand Rapids Creston High School, from 1998-2000.
