Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (4-3) take on the Corpus Christi Sharks (1-6) on Monday, May 25th, at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX. Kickoff is set for 3:05 pm CST. Saturday's contest is only the third time the teams have met. Corpus Christi won the last meeting, 44-26, in 2008, which evened the series to one win a piece.
The Yard Dawgz are coming off their third straight loss, this last to the defending 2008 af2 ArenaCup Champion Tennessee Valley Vipers, 49-24. The Dawgz began the season 4-0, the best start in franchise history before dropping three straight, all to teams ranked in the top five in the latest af2 Coaches Poll. In the loss, WR Al Hunt became arenafootball2's all-time leading scorer with 1,174 points and tied Central Valley's George Williams as the leagues all-time leader in career touchdowns (193).
When asked about what the Dawgz need to do to prepare for Corpus Christi, Head Coach Sparky McEwen had only this to say, "We have to find a way to win!"
Saturday's matchup against the Sharks is a virtual must win for the Dawgz, as a loss would give the Dawgz a .500 record through the first half of the season. The good news is Corpus Christi has struggled to find their identity so far this season.
All Yard Dawgz games are broadcast live on 105.3 ESPN Deportes. All broadcasts are in English. Internet broadcasts of all Yard Dawgz games can be viewed by visiting www.niftytv.com.
