Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY -The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz and Oklahoma Blood Institute are hosting the team's 5th annual blood drive this Sunday, June 29, from 12-4 p.m. at the Crossroads Mall center court.
"The work of the Oklahoma Blood Institute is greatly appreciated by all of those living in Oklahoma and north central Texas," commented Yard Dawgz General Manager Christie Cook. "It is a comfort to know that should the need arise, blood that is safe and of the highest quality is available because of the Oklahoma Blood Institute."
Yard Dawgz players, dancers, mascots, and staff will be at the event to sign autographs and to donate blood. Each donor will receive a t-shirt and Member for Life points, as well as a free ticket to the Yard Dawgz home game versus the Tulsa Talons on July 19 at the Ford Center.
"The Yard Dawgz show true commitment to this community with their annual blood drive," says John Armitage, M.D., President and CEO of OBI. "The team has helped raise awareness about the constant need for blood day in and day out. OBI is grateful to have the players, coaches and staff on its team."
Today, the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is the tenth largest non-profit regional blood center in America. It projects a need for 220,000 units of blood a year and provides transfusion blood products and clinical services to 125 medical facilities in Oklahoma and north central Texas. OBI's mission is "to provide the safest and highest quality blood, services and health programs to the patients and communities they serve." Working closely with blood donors and other volunteers, OBI stays prepared to meet the needs of every patient in the communities it serves.
