Lightning Go Big For Final Road Trip

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league announced FB/LB Andre King, Vai Notoa, FB/DL Mike Peko, OL/DL Tai Tupai and WR/DB Nashville Dyer have been assigned by the af2 league office. Notoa has been placed on the grefused to reporth list.

The Lightning also announced the following roster transactions:

œ Lawrence Bady (WR) activated off refused-to-report list and placed on re-assignment

œ Stephen Bell (OL/DL) placed on injured reserve

œ Daniel Grossi (FB/LB) placed on re-assignment

œ BfJay Jones (WR/LB) placed on re-assignment

œ Troy McBroom (WR) activated off gteam suspensionh list

œ Vernon Smith (WR/DB) placed on injured reserve

œ Peter Tuialuuluu (FB) placed on team suspension list

McBroom, 25, enters his first season of af2 experience after splitting a college football career between McPherson (Kan.) College (NAIA), St. Mary's College (NCAA) and local San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) College. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound receiver was an NAIA All-American as a 2005 senior at McPherson, leading the KCAC Conference in 2005 with 56 pass receptions. McBroom had 659 receiving yards which ranked third in the conference and his six touchdown catches tied for second among KCAC receivers.

As a senior, McBroom's six receiving touchdowns led McPherson, and his 36 points scored tied for third among the Bulldogs. A product of local Manteca (Calif.) High School, McBroom concluded his two-year, McPherson College career with 84 receptions, good for 996 yards and nine touchdowns.

Dyer, 28, started the year in preseason camp with the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League and has registered six tackles in three games with the Lightning. Dyer spent his college career with the Kent State Golden Flashes (NCAA), appearing in 31 career games and led the team with 4 interceptions and ranked second in tackles (63) as a 2002 senior.

Tupai, 27, is in his second stint this season on the Lightning roster and spent his college career with Washington State University (NCAA). The 6-foot-4, 325-pound lineman appeared in 49 career games for the Cougars while tallying 63 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss and 6.0 sacks. Tupai registered a season-best 25 tackles in 13 games for Washington State as a 2003 senior and helped guide the national-power program to an appearance in the 2003 Rose Bowl.

The Monterey, Calif. native spent his high school career at Monterey High, where he earned three varsity letters and was an ESPN Top-100 and Super Prep Magazine All-American selection.

King, a product of Washburn (Kan.) University, appeared in six games last season with the Corpus Christi Sharks and caught one pass for six yards while registering eight tackles and one fumble recovery. Peko, 30, has appeared in one game this season with the Boise Burn and spent his college football career at West Valley College.

The Lightning return to play with a Week 14 road matchup against the Tennessee Valley Vipers, beginning at 5:30 p.m. from the Von Braun Center on Friday, June 27.
