Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (7-6) take on the Rio Grande Valley Dorados (6-5) on Friday, July 3, in Hidalgo, Texas. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm CST.
The Yard Dawgz were handed their first lost in the month of June by the undefeated Spokane Shock. The Yard Dawgz rushed for four touchdowns before being held scoreless in the second half. The two teams were deadlocked in a 28-28 tie before the Shock's defense took over and lead Spokane to their twelfth victory of the season.
Friday will be the eleventh meeting between the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz and the Rio Grande Valley Dorados. During the last game, the Yard Dawgz lost a heartbreaker when David Hendrix's field-goal attempt went wide right, allowing the Dorados to squeeze by with a one-point victory. The Yard Dawgz #4 ranked defense will face the Dorados #1 ranked offense.
"It's great for our team to return to the playoffs after missing the tournament last season," said Head Coach Sparky McEwen. "Now we must continue to get better and battle for playoff positioning and that starts with a well-coached Rio Grande Valley team. The first time we played them this season, it was an offensive shootout that I think would be more of a defensive, physical battle this time."
All Yard Dawgz games are broadcast live on 105.3 ESPN Deportes. All broadcasts are in English. Internet broadcasts of all Yard Dawgz games can be viewed by visiting www.niftytv.com.
