Florence Y'alls News Release

JOLIET, IL - After scoring just three combined runs in the previous three games against the Evansville Otters, the Y'alls got the bats going against the Slammers Friday night with an 8-2 victory at DuPage Medical Group Field.

Florence (20-13) gets back to its winning ways after dropping six of the past nine games. Despite the recent struggles, the Y'alls are just the third Frontier League team to reach 20 wins so far this season. Joliet, on the other hand, drops to 13-19.

The offense really exploded in the middle innings with the Y'alls plating seven of their eight runs between the sixth and the eighth innings. With the score tied 1-1 in the sixth inning, Florence broke the tie with two runs. Axel Johnson walked in a run and Johnny Knight hit a sacrifice fly to left field to drive in their first runs of their Florence careers. Johnson began the year with Gateway, and Knight started the season with Lake Erie.

The Y'alls continued to add on in the seventh inning with three more runs. Luis Pintor put a safety squeeze bunt up the first baseline to score a run, and two batters later, Trevor Craport drove home two runs with a triple into the right-field corner. Craport would finish the night with four hits, including a home run in the second inning.

Florence added some breathing room in the eighth with a Joe Lytle RBI-single and another Pintor RBI on a ground out.

After the Craport home run in the second inning, it took until the fourth inning for the Slammers to respond. Braxton Davidson brought Kyle Jacobsen home with a fielder's choice groundout. Jackson Dvorak added a run-scoring single later in the ballgame, but the Florence offense was too much to overcome.

Jonathan Vance gets the win for the Y'alls thanks to his five-inning start. The righty allowed just one run and three hits while striking out four. He issued no walks. Logan Dubbe gets hit with the loss for Joliet. He lasted just five 1/3 innings, allowed four hits and three runs, walked four, and struck out four. The Slammers needed to use four relief pitchers to get through the game with three runs being charged to Brad VanAsdlen. The Y'alls got four combined innings of one-run baseball from Johnathan Tripp and Joe Dougherty.

The teams rematch tomorrow, Saturday, July 3, with a 6:05p CT / 7:05p ET first pitch.
