
Yakima's Shirley Summoned by Atlanta

Boise, Idaho (Jan. 8, 2003)â The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Yakima Sun Kings, 2003 All-Star forward/center Paul Shirley has been called up by the NBA's Atlanta Hawks. Sioux Falls Skyforce forward Corsley Edwards (see bio below) will replace Shirley at the 19th CBA All-Star Classic, Jan. 13-14 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Edwards was the top National Conference alternate as voted on by the league's head coaches and beat writers.
Shirley, the fourth CBA-to-NBA call-up of the 2002-03 campaign, ranks 3rd in the CBA in blocks (1.6 bpg), 18th in scoring (15.1 ppg), and 15th in rebounding (6.6 rpg). He has participated in the last two Rocky Mountain Review Summer Leagues with the Cleveland Cavaliers. At Iowa State ('01) the 6-10, 230 Shirley posted 10.0 ppg and 6.9 rpg as a senior, and 8.1 ppg and 4.5 rpg as a junior.
