BEND - Yakima Valley continued its torrid offensive output of the last week, scoring a 15-10 victory over the Bend Elks at Vince Genna Stadium Thursday evening in a West Coast League baseball game.
For the third consecutive game, all nine of the Pippin starters reached base with all nine scoring at least one run and eight of the nine notching an RBI. YV has now scored 51 runs in their last five games.
Vince Fernandez led the 19-hit attack with a home run, two doubles, a single and three RBIs. Nick Lopez led Bend's offense with three hits and three runs scored while Jake Peevyhouse contributed a couple of safeties and three RBIs.
Matt Trask (2-0) earned the win in relief for Yakima Valley while Michael Bennett suffered his third loss of the season. The Pippins have won six of their last eight games.
The two WCL teams square off Friday evening in game two of the three games series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm at Vince Genna Stadium.
