The 2009 home opener is ONLY 88 DAYS AWAY!! Your hometown Sioux City Explorers home opener is set for Friday, May 22nd, 2009 for game one of a scheduled 3 game series versus the Wichita Wingnuts with the first pitch set for 7:05 PM. It won't be long before we hear those words echo around Lewis & Clark Park, "Play Ball!"
In 2008, your hometown Sioux City Explorers finished the season on a high note by claiming the American Association North Division 2nd Half Championship and are looking to continue their success on the field by bringing a championship to Sioux City in 2009!!
During the off-season alot of exciting things have taken place within the organization. We were extremely excited to announce that former Chicago Cubs pitcher - Les Lancaster has signed a (3) year contract extension to remain the field manager of your hometown X's through the 2011 season. Lancaster has already begun putting his 2009 team together with the recent signings of former Major Leaguer Walter Young, 2008 American Association All-Star Brett Reid, Sioux City native, Dustin Jones, 2nd Baseman Alex Llanos, RHP Mat Kretzschmar, RHP Ty Marotz, and RHP Nick Singleton and with these and future signings it can only mean one thing...another championship caliber team in 2009!!

With the release of the 2009 schedule, we are now accepting group ticket reservations for all (48) home dates on the 2009 schedule.
