
Xplosion sign three players

PITTSBURGH, November 29, 2006 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion professional basketball officially signed three players on Tuesday to reach the Continental Basketball Association Roster limit of 10 players on its active roster. .The three players included Xplosion veteran and former Point Park University star DeVaughn Halsel, Greg Jenkins from Iona College and Marvin Phillips from Division II Clafin University in South Carolina.
Halsel, a two-time NAIA All-American at Point Park, averaged 15.2 points and 8.1 rebounds for the Xplosion in 2005-06. Jenkins, who played with Greek First Division Club Irakis last year, was a three-time All-MAAC pick at Ion. Phillips, who has played in the ABA and WBA, was most recently with the USBL's Northeastern Pennsylvania Breakers.
The team also officially released five players, including Jason Benson, Lawrence Baker, Joey Brito, Leonard Mitchell, and Jason Hood.
The Pittsburgh Xplosion open its CBA season on December 1 and 2 at Albany. The team plays its home opener versus the Indiana AlleyCats at Mellon Arena on Wednesday, December 6 at 7:05 PM.
