Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release

PITTSBURGH, November 13, 2007 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion of the Continental Basketball Association today announced the signing of former University of Pittsburgh standout Carl Krauser, pending league approval.

One of college basketball's most exciting players, Krauser became the face of the Pitt basketball program over the course of his five years with the Panthers. As the point guard and leader on the floor, Krauser often displayed fearless leadership and a desire to make big plays in a game's most critical situations.

Krauser was named Second Team All-Big East in each of his final three seasons with Pitt. In 2003-04, Krauser was named the Big East's Most Improved Player while picking up Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention honors. In his junior season of 2004-05, Krauser won the John Wooden Award, was named a Naismith All-American, and finished as a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award.

"We are very happy and excited to have a guy of his caliber on our team," head coach Carlos Knox said. "We are very excited to have him contribute both in the community and on the court."

Krauser became the first Panther in school history to surpass 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists. For his career, Krauser finished ninth on the school's all-time scoring list (1,642 points), fourth in assists (568), and eighth in steals (190). He averaged 13 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 126 games.

The Xplosion picked Krauser in the sixth round of the 2006 CBA College Draft. Teams own the CBA rights of their draft choices for two seasons.

Krauser spent the 2006-07 season in Germany with EWE Baskets Oldenburg, where he averaged 6.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 steals in 34 games.

Krauser joins former Panthers Antonio Graves and John DeGroat on the camp roster.

The Xplosion open the season Friday night at the Petersen Events Center at 7:05 PM against East Kentucky. Season tickets are now on sale. For more information, visit www.pittsburghxplosion.com.
