Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release

PITTSBURGH, January 18, 2007 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion professional basketball team announced a pair of roster moves today. The Xplosion placed former Duquesne University standout Bryant McAllister on the Inactive Reserve list. The club also announced the retirement of former Point Park University star DeVaughn Halsel. Halsel will remain with the team as an assistant coach for the remainder of the season.

McAllister appeared in 10 games for the Black and Gold this season, including five starts, but had spent two stints on the injured reserve list with various ailments. When healthy he averaged 10.5 points, 4.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds.

Halsel, who had a 10 year pro career in Europe and stateside, was a member of the Xplosion's inaugural team in 2005-06. Like McAllister, the Pittsburgh native had spent significant time on injured reserve. The two-time NAIA All-American at Point Park appeared in 11 games, making seven starts, and averaged 7.5 points and 5.7 rebounds. He will remain as an assistant coach on new coach Jaren Jackson's staff.

The Xplosion travel to face the Minot Skyrockets on Friday, before returning home for back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday against the CBA Champion Yakama Sun Kings at Mellon Arena.
