Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release
PITTSBURGH, December 10, 2007 - A late fourth quarter run gave the Albany Patroons a 111-102 victory over the Pittsburgh Xplosion Monday night at Mellon Arena.
The score was tied at 93 with 5:36 to play, but a 14-2 run by the Patroons over the next 4:05 fueled the victory. Guard Chad Timberlake scored a team-high 25 points.
"We just lost our focus in so many different situations at the end," Xplosion head coach Carlos Knox said.
The Xplosion started strong, leading by as many as 11 in the first quarter. Albany inched back late in the period, but the Xplosion won the point, 33-30.
The teams traded leads throughout the second quarter, but the Xplosion took the quarter point by a basket on a John DeGroat lay-in with three seconds to play. Pittsburgh led, 65-60, at halftime.
Albert White poured in a game-high 31 points, while Chaz McCrommon scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. DeGroat finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
The Xplosion do not play again until next Monday against Oklahoma at Mellon Arena.
"We've been going hard for awhile now," Knox said. "We can use the break."
