
Xplosion general manager Freddie Lewis honored by Indiana Pacers

PITTSBURGH, November 6, 2006 - Pittsburgh Xplosion owner and general manager Freddie Lewis was among those honored in pregame ceremonies when the NBA's Indiana Pacers recognized the members of the club's first team on Friday, November 3 at Conseco Fieldhouse. Lewis played eight seasons for the Pacers (1967-74, 1976-77), which are in their 40th anniversary season.
Lewis, who attended McKeesport High School and Arizona State University, began his professional career after being drafted by the NBA's Cincinnati Royals in 1966. After one season with the Royals, he moved to the rival ABA, spending the next seven seasons with the Pacers. He led Indiana two three ABA Championships in 1970, 1972, and 1973. He also represented the Pacers in three All-Star games (1968, 1970, and 1972). Following stints with the Memphis Sounds and Spirits of St. Louis, Lewis returned to the Pacers (who by this point had joined the NBA), and retired in 1977 with 12,033 combined NBA/ABA career points.
