Xplorers Rebound With 43-38 Victory Over Yard Dawgz

Southaven, MS - The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 defeated the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz 43-38 Saturday at the DeSoto Civic Center.

Xplorers DS Dahnel Singfield earned the ADT Defensive Player of the Game Award with four tackles, four pass deflections, and one critical interception in the end zone. Memphis' Ryan Karr was voted the Army Ironman of the game with one TD, five receptions for 91 yards, and three tackles. Quarterback Brian Jones won his third Offensive MVP, completing 21 of 31 passes for 339 yards and four touchdowns. Jones also ran in two scores for the Xplorers.

Memphis led for the entire game, but Oklahoma City did not go away. In the second half, Memphis never led by more than 12, and Oklahoma City never got closer than three. The Xplorers had the ball in the final minutes of the game, and we able to pick up enough first downs, forcing the Yard Dawgz to burn all their timeouts. Memphis was then able to run out the remaining time in the game.

With the win, the Xplorers move to 5-1 on the season, and remain atop the Mid West Division of the National Conference. Oklahoma City drops to 2-4 and will stay in fourth place in the division.

Memphis will stay at home next weekend as the Amarillo Dusters enter the DeSoto Civic Center. The Xplorers defeated Amarillo in week two 66-41. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
