Manchester Wolves News Release

The Manchester Wolves extinguished the Louisville Fire, 46-37, handing them their first loss of the season by holding them to their lowest number of points scored all season. The Wolves' second home win came in front of an exuberant crowd of 6,123 Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Both teams are now 4-1 and tied for the top spot in the American Conference, East Division standings.

It was another big night for Wolves QB Jake Eaton, who earned his fourth Offensive Player of the Game honor for his performance. Eaton completed 19-of-26 passes for 230 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing for an additional score. Wolves' WR/DB J.J. McKelvey had a strong offensive night as well, catching six passes for 64 yards and three touchdowns. This was McKelvey's fourth consecutive game with at least two touchdowns. Offense was certainly the story in the first half as both teams had little trouble putting points on the board. After the first 30 minutes, Manchester held a slim 26-24 advantage.

In the second half, however, Manchester's defense held true, limiting the potent Fire to just seven third quarter points and six fourth quarter points. Leading the effort was ADT Defensive Player of the Game William "Rock" Haith. His achievements included twelve total tackles, seven pass breakups, and one tackle for a loss.

Other key Wolves were Marc Bacote (Army Ironman of the Game), Heyward Skipper and Jamaal Perry who each collected a touchdown reception. Bacote also recorded 3.5 tackles on defense.

Louisville was led by QB Matt Sauk and WR/DB Rob Mager. Sauk was 30-of-45 in the air for 288 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions. Mager led all receivers with 10 catches for 104 yards and two scores.

The Wolves return to action on Saturday, May 14 when they travel to Albany, NY to tackle the Albany Conquest. Manchester defeated the Conquest on the road two weeks ago on April 23, 56-49.

The Wolves next home game is Friday, May 20, against the South Georgia Wildcats.
