SOUTHAVEN, Miss â The Memphis Xplorers were assigned WR/DB Martin Dossett by the af2 office today. The Xplorers also welcome back defensive specialist Keith Spann from the Long Term Injured Reserve. Memphis tangles with the Birmingham Steeldogs this Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center, located just 15 minutes south of downtown Memphis. Dossett, who played his college football at Baylor, is 5'11" 190 pounds. In addition to football, Dossett also ran track at Baylor. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers as a free agent and played in NFL Europe this past spring. He played two games for the Wichita Stealth of the af2 in 2002.
"This guy is one of the fastest players you will ever see," Xplorers head coach Danton Barto said. "He can really fly. Martin will help our offense and help us recover from losing Kevin Prentiss."
Spann was placed on the injured reserve after suffering a concussion on May 10th at Arkansas. He returns to the lineup after missing three games. Spann played his college football at Memphis and at the time of his injury he was among the league leaders in af2 in pass defenses.

XPLORERS FOOTBALL CAMP Children ages six to 12 who love football will have an opportunity to learn from the pros when the Memphis Xplorers host a football clinic this Saturday, June 14th, beginning at 1 p.m. at the DeSoto Civic Center. Cost is $25 and participants in the camp will receive a ticket to that night's Xplorers game against the Birmingham Steeldogs at the DCC included in the camp registration fee. XPLORERS JERSEY AUCTION BENEFITS ST. JUDE CHLDREN'S HOSPITAL
After the Xplorers' game on Saturday night against Birmingham, Hollywood Casino is sponsoring a jersey auction with all proceeds benefiting patients at St. Jude Children's Hospital. Game time on Saturday night against the Birmingham Steeldogs is set for 7 p.m.
