Wright, Molden, and Cohen earn Week 12 honors

NEW YORK – San Jose SaberCats wide receiver/defensive back RODNEY WRIGHT, Chicago Rush wide receiver/linebacker ETU MOLDEN and New Orleans VooDoo offensive/defensive lineman B.J. COHEN have been named U.S. Army Ironman, Offensive Player and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 12 of the 2005 season. The announcement was made live on ESPNews this afternoon.

U.S. ARMY IRONMAN: Wright (5-9, 180, Fresno State), who is in his rookie season, led the AFLWA's No. 5 San Jose SaberCats (7-4) over the Eastern Division-leading Dallas Desperados (6-4-1) in Friday's 83-71 victory. On offense, he tallied six receptions for 52 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, he recorded 9.5 total tackles and one fumble recovery. On special teams, he had six returns for 175 yards and finished with 227 all-purpose yards. This marks the first time that the former Bulldog has earned an AFL weekly honor.

OFFENSIVE: Molden (6-2, 195, Montana) led the AFLWA's No. 8 Chicago Rush (7-4) over the No. 1-ranked Colorado Crush (8-3) in Sunday's 75-51 victory at Allstate Arena. He tallied eight receptions for 152 yards and five touchdowns. During the fourth quarter, Molden returned an onside kick 15 yards for his sixth and final touchdown of the game as the Rush ended Colorado's seven-game winning streak. This marks the second time the former Grizzly has earned an AFL weekly honor.

ADT DEFENSIVE: Cohen (6-2, 280, Marshall) helped lead the New Orleans VooDoo (7-4) to a 64-28 victory over the Columbus Destroyers (1-10) on Saturday at the New Orleans Arena. The seven-year veteran recorded 5.5 total tackles, which included a tackle for loss, and 3.0 sacks. The former All-Arena performer's first sack was also a safety. This marks the fourth time the former member of the Thundering Herd has earned an AFL weekly honor.

U.S. Army Ironman of the Week candidates included: Chicago‘s Etu Molden, Dallas' Will Pettis, Georgia's Derek Lee, Las Vegas' Cornelius Bonner, Nashville's Jarrick Hillery, New Orleans' Carl Bond, Orlando's Cory Fleming and Tampa Bay's Lynaris Elpheage.

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Georgia's Matt Nagy and Chris Jackson, Las Vegas' Clint Dolezel, Nashville's T.T. Toliver, New Orleans' Andy Kelly, Orlando's Chris Sanders, San Jose's Mark Grieb and Tampa Bay's Lawrence Samuels.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Chicago's Russell Shaw, Georgia's Nate Coggins, Las Vegas' Steve Konopka, Los Angeles' Silas Demary, Orlando's Kenny McEntyre, San Jose's James Roe and Tampa Bay's Jonathan Ordway.
