Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - Capping off a championship season for the Las Vegas Wranglers, the team announced today that almost $400,000 was donated back to the Vegas community in the 2011-12 season.

Specialty jersey auctions brought in over $46,000 from the community. Through a St. Patrick's Day themed jersey and donations for players to shave their heads, the Wranglers were able to donate $32,577 to the St. Baldrick's Foundation and childhood cancer research. Almost $9,000 went to two local breast cancer organizations after the return of "Pink in the Rink" in February. Fallen Not Forgotten, a t-shirt company that sends care packages to soldiers stationed overseas, received $5,200 from military-themed jerseys on Veteran's Day weekend in November to ship out 400 packages.

For the ninth consecutive season, the Wranglers partnered with NV Energy to donate money to a local non-profit organization for each goal scored at home. This season, the YMCA of Southern Nevada received a $10,000 donation after the Wranglers scored 126 home goals in 36 regular-season games. The team also worked with Cell Phones for Soldiers for a second year to collect 226 phones to recycle into calling cards for overseas troops.

New partnerships this season also benefitted a variety of organizations. The "Guns 'n' Hoses" game between Las Vegas police and fire departments and FDNY raised more than $4,000 for the Injured Police Officers Fund of Nevada and the Nevada Burn Foundation. "Thank You, Las Vegas," a ticket donation program for local non-profits that launched this season, gifted 2,465 tickets to 21 organizations as a thank you for their efforts in the Vegas valley.

Fundraiser tickets, "Chuck a Puck" group fundraisers, and a variety of other activities contributed to the donations made on behalf of the Wranglers this season. In 2010-11, over $163,000 was donated by the Wranglers to the Las Vegas community. To get involved with the Wranglers community efforts, please contact the front office at (702) 471-PUCK.
