Wranglers Bolster Blue Line with Woodley
July 31, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced Wednesday that defenseman Ben Woodley has agreed to terms with the team for the 2013-14 season.
Woodley, 21, made his ECHL debut last season with the Toledo Walleye and Greenville Road Warriors. The 6-foot-7, 238-pound rookie defenseman recorded one goal, two assists, and 30 penalty minutes in 19 regular-season games, and appeared in four playoff games for the Road Warriors.
"Ben is a young player that adds a lot of strength and size to our team," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Madill. "Everyone I talked to about Ben says that he is hungry to learn and do everything he can to move to the next level. He works extremely hard on and off the ice, and he had a lot of teams interested in him. We're lucky he decided to play for us in Las Vegas."
Prior to the ECHL, the London, Ontario native spent two years (2010-12) with the Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League. In 74 games, Woodley posted 11 goals and 53 assists while collecting 150 penalty minutes.
The Wranglers open their eleventh season of hockey in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:05 p.m. against the Utah Grizzlies.
