Wranglers' defenseman Tim Hambly blasted a shot from the top of the left-wing circle for his sixth goal of the season, as Las Vegas scored with a 5-on-3 advantage at 5:55. Stockton countered to tie the game at one as Nathan Martz snapped a shot past Mike McKenna at 10:05. The Wranglers answered with a power-play goal of their own, this time defenseman Tyler Sloan knocked in a rebound off a Dan Tudin shot, giving Las Vegas the lead at 11:35 of the second period.

In the third period, Stockton forward Mike Lalonde scored off a rebound at 13:03, tying the game at two with only seven minutes remaining. Las Vegas countered quickly when Dan Tudin sprung Hambly in front of Stockton net for the go-ahead goal at 17:04, as Las Vegas snagged the 3-2 lead.
