Wranglers activate Alexander, sign former Longhorn WR/DB Greg Brown to practice squad

AUSTIN, Texas—The Austin Wranglers activated FB/LB Patrise Alexander from the Injured Reserve. He will play this Sunday when the Wranglers host the Philadelphia Soul at 2 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center. The team has placed WR/DB Sirr Parker on Recallable Waivers.

Former University of Texas defender Greg Brown has been signed to the Wranglers practice squad as a wide receiver/defensive back.

NFL—2003: Spent the summer with the Rhein Fire... Led the team in interceptions with three for 78 yards... Posted 60 total tackles on the season, 50 solo and 10 assists, 10 passes defensed and one forced fumble... Signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers July 15... Was released prior to the start of the regular season... 2002: Started all 10 regular season games and World Bowl X for the Fire in 2002... Recorded 34 tackles, three interceptions for 78 yards, four pass defenses and nine special teams takedowns... Originally allocated to NFL Europe by the Denver Broncos... Joined the Broncos as a rookie free agent... 2001: Brown spent training camp with the Broncos but was waived on August 28... Later signed to the team's practice squad on December 11.

COLLEGE: Played in 43 career games for the Longhorns and twice earned Honorable Mention All- Big 12 honors... He had 168 tackles (112 solo), 6 interceptions (57 yards, 2 touchdowns ) 8 pass defenses and 3 forced fumbles, including 68 stops (52 solo), 4 interceptions and 7 pass breakups as a senior... Earned second-team Academic All- Big 12 recognition as a junior... Was a three- time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll... Majored in physical education.

PERSONAL: Graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he earned first- team all- state honors with 7 interceptions, 34 tackles and a fumble recovery as a senior.... Also earned all-district honors as a wide receiver and was the team's placekicker... Catholic had a 10-0 record and a No. 1 ranking in the state that year before finishing 13-1 and 10th in the country... Brown was also an all- district kicker as a junior and ran on state champion track teams in 1995 (outdoor) and 1997 (indoor).
