Central Valley Coyotes News Release

(Fresno, CA)- The Af2 league office has assigned the 2005 Lone Star Conference South Receiver of the Year Tonae Martin to the Central Valley Coyotes.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Martin caught 62 passes for 1,055 yards, an average of 17 yards per catch, for Don Carthel's West Texas A&M Buffaloes in 2005. As the 6'4 215 pound receiver led the Buffaloes to a 10-2 record he finished the 2005 season with five 100+ yards receiving games, at least one touchdown in nine of 11 games and had three games with two touchdown receptions. He was the only receiver in the conference to top the 1,000 yard mark and caught a conference best 12 touchdowns. His best game was against New Mexico Highlands when Martin caught 7 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns.

"If the new substitution rule is about letting players showcase their talents at their natural position, I can't wait to see Tonae, with fresh legs, every offensive series," said Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. "He's what you look for in a true wide receiver."

Before his career at WTAMU Martin played Junior College football at Kilgore College where in 2003 he was a preseason All American, a Top 100 JC Gridwire Prospect and finished the season averaging 13.2 yards per reception and scored 6 touchdowns.

After his senior season at WTAMU, this graduate from Everman High School in Everman Texas was named 1st Team All Lone star Conference and was an All South West Region honoree as selected by d2football.com. He was selected to play in the Inaugural 2005 Magnolia Grid-Iron Classic where he caught 2 passes for 31 yards and played in the 2006, Sixth Annual Cactus Bowl. As a receiver for the west squad Martin caught 4 passes for 100 yards including the games first touchdown of 43 yards.
