Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock returned home after spending the past two weeks on the road and returned home with a win 68-63 over the Quad City Steamwheelers in front of a near sell-out crowd (10,159) at the Spokane Arena.
Spokane Shock WR/LB Charles Frederick finally had the breakout game that he had been looking for all season.
Frederick, who earned the US ARMY Ironman of the Game award, had four touchdowns on the night including 130 all-purpose yards.
Shock Head Coach Chris Siegfried was pleased with his performance. "He just makes plays," Siegfried explained. "He has a bright future in this league or in the NFL," Siegfried said.
Frederick was happy to have such an impressive game at home. "I just wanted to come out and show what I could do," Frederick said.
Steamwheelers Quarterback Tim Hicks, who had previously led the league in passing yards, threw two interceptions (both were picked off by Shock DS Rob Keefe) for only 169 yards before being pulled in the 2nd quarter for back-up Matt Pike.
Pike provided some offensive spark for the Steamwheelers, totaling 156 yards including 4 touchdowns, but it was not enough to overcome the Shock.
The Shock will host the Central Valley at the Spokane Arena next weekend on June 3rd.
