
Worcester Walks Away With Win At Wachusett

LEOMINSTER, Mass. - As of late, the Worcester Bravehearts (16-5) has either played their opponents down to the wire or blown their out of the water. This was another close one against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (8-15) at Doyle Field in Leominster, but Worcester kept their winnings ways going as they pulled off a 4-3 road victory.
Both teams went back and forth in the first two innings, each scoring a run in the first and two runs in the second. The Bravehearts collected solo home runs on from outfielder Joe Caico (New Haven/Hopedale, MA) and catcher Nick Barry (UMass-Lowell/Grafton, MA), their third and second of the summer respectively.
Worcester's Kevin Stone (Harvard/ Stamford, CT) got the start for the Bravehearts and picked up the win. Stone (1-1) got through six innings of work, giving up six hits and three earned runs, while walking just one batter. He picked up his first win of the summer.
The Bravehearts pulled ahead in the fifth inning after Zack Tower (Franklin Pierce/Auburn, MA) walked with the bases loaded to bring home the go-ahead run, giving the visitors the lead for good 4-3.
Dirt Dawgs pitcher PJ Browne (Merrimack/Rutland, MA) took the loss for the home team, going four innings, giving up four runs on five hits, walking two Bravehearts and striking out five batters.
